The Little One

Due Date: November 8th, 2007.

We are both VERY excited to be having our first baby! I know the rest of the family is excited, too! :-)

Baby's First Pictures! (May 10th, 2007)

Today, we went in for our first sonogram. Here's what we saw (make sure you click on each of the images to view them larger, and for a little description):

We know the baby is healthy, and that everything appears as "normal" (according to our doctors.) The doctors are also "95% certain" that the baby will be a girl. I'm no expert, but from the stories I've heard, we won't know for 100% certain what the baby is until it is born. However, at our next sonogram visit (scheduled July 2nd), the doctors assured us that they should be able to tell 100% exactly what sex the baby will be.

Health Update! (June 18th, 2007)

We just got more test results today: AFP3 results were negative.

Answering a Popular Question: (June 26th, 2007)

The answer is "yes!"

Well, you already know the question, so there's no need to post it here, right? However, on the off chance that you are VERY creative, I'll go ahead and put a stop to your imagination and clarify:

Yes, Ka Ki is showing a belly. :-)

Oh, and to answer another popular question: yes, we've decided on names depending on if the baby is a boy or girl. But if you want to know what we've decided, you're just going to have to keep checking in! (I know a LITTLE about advertising & marketing... I've got to create the "hook", right? - so you'll keep checking back in? Haha!)

Baby's Second Pictures! (July 2nd, 2007)

Today, we went in for our second sonogram! Below are the pictures:

Compared to the first pictures in May, you can really see the development over the past couple months! We're getting more exited!

As for the health of the baby, the doctors said the heart, brain, and everything else look great! The baby's measurements are all exactly where they should be, so as far as they can tell, we're having a very "normal" and "healthy" baby!

Also, for those of you who have been waiting to know if the baby is a boy or girl... the verdict is in! The doctors are 100% sure, without a doubt in the entire world, we are going to have a little baby GIRL!

So, what about names? You'll have to continue to check in here on the site! Hehe!

We've Registered (August 19th, 2007)

Today, we went to register at Babies "R" Us. It was fun to scan barcodes around the store. However, we have no idea what we REALLY need, but we took our best guess! I'm sure we'll be adding more as we become more educated in the process.

Here's the registry information in case you want to know:

Babies "R" Us site: http://www.toysrus.com/registry/index.jsp
Registry Number: 54842557

We decided on a Snoopy and Woodstock theme. Blues and whites, preferably (I know, these are typically baby boy colors, but as far as we know... girls like blue, too.)

Both of My Girls Are Healthy! (August 20th, 2007)

NO!! We are NOT having twins!! All I'm saying is that my wife and baby are both healthy, normal, and doing very well (although the body aches are not fun, according to my wife.)

We listened to the baby's heartbeat today, and it sounded cute! I'm still VERY excited!... definitely looking forward to being a daddy!

I still have a lot of work to do in the house to get ready, though...

Baby Heartbeat! (September 4th, 2007)

This site is supposed to be somewhat "interactive", so how about some sound? I bring you... the baby's heartbeat (WAV file, 84K).

Health Update! (September 18th, 2007)

We are going to appointments every two weeks now, and so far, so good!

The doctor told us that everything is "normal". The head is now down, and should remain there until birth. The baby is still very active; kicking mommy every chance she gets! Hehe!!

Birth and Technology (September 27th, 2007)

So, what do you get when a web designer gets free Wi-Fi access at the hospital when his wife is going into labor? You get online updates to what's going on in the delivery room!! How sweet is that?!?

I will document the progress here on this page! There will be pictures, important data (journal/diary and scrapbook worthy), and quotes from inside the delivery room. (Sorry, no videos or audio... we just ain't doin' it!)

For family and friends: please e-mail me to let me know that you want to be e-mailed when we head into the delivery room and begin logging the "play-by-play" action here.

Once the baby is born, I will reveal the name, birthday, and other vitals on a new page, dedicated to our new daughter (where we will then begin to log our daughter's progress through her new life.)

My Mom's Here! (October 8th, 2007)

Between now and October 26th, my mom will be staying with us to help care for my wife. My wife still wants to drive around town and do her shopping. Well, my mom is here to put a stop to that!

Also, she's here so she can take my wife to the hospital in case something happens while I'm at work.

Dilation Begins! (October 15th, 2007)

We are seeing the doctor every week now. It's coming down to the home stretch. At today's appointment, the doctor said my wife is a few millimeters dilated, which means it is beginning. Woohoo!

Also, my wife is feeling the Braxton Hicks contractions. They are uncomfortable or a little painful at times.

1cm!! (October 22nd, 2007)

While at the doctor's office today, we discovered that my wife is now 1cm dilated! The doctor also said that we'll probably see the her at our regularly scheduled appointment next week, too... which means no baby, yet.

Coming in November (we "expect")

This is a page dedicated to our soon-to-be newest member of the family.

I'll bring you all the latest information as we get it (or as soon as I have an opportunity to get the information posted.)
